Returning Students

8

Returning residents are permitted to return to the halls on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Students who arrive early without formal approval from the Office of Residential Life will not be permitted to access the halls, and will be responsible for securing accommodations elsewhere until the opening of the residence halls.

Returning International Students

Returning international students living on-campus are expected to move in with other returning students on Sunday, August 24, 2025, unless part of an approved Early Arrival Group.

Early Arrival

A limited number of students are approved for an Individual Early Arrival in the event of exceptional, extenuating personal circumstances. In order to be considered, students must submit the required Housing Extension request form no later than July 8, 2025. Requests will not be considered via other means (phone calls, email, etc.).

Requests will be reviewed by the Office of Residential Life, and students will be notified whether their request was approved or denied on a rolling basis.

More information on Early Arrival policies is at our website.

Arrival Times

Residential Life is asking that students register for an Arrival Time in Home Under the Dome that best fits their travel plans. Arrival Times will better manage traffic flow to the Unloading Zones at the residence halls through our staging lots and campus gates. Students should sign up in Home Under the Dome for an Arrival Time where they will be able to access Unloading Zones during a 60-minute window at their residence hall. While staging lots are open, students who have signed up for an Arrival Time will be allowed to access the Unloading Zones at their hall. If you do not register for an Arrival Time on your move-in day you will be asked to park in a perimeter parking lot and walk on to campus.

More information regarding Arrival Times will be communicated directly with students at which time students will be able to sign up in Home Under the Dome for their Arrival Time.

We do not have a capacity on the number of students who can choose a particular Arrival Time for your hall, however we are encouraging students to review the number of students arriving during their time for planning purposes. The more students registered for an Arrival Time, the longer your wait will be in staging lots to access Unloading Zones.

Returning students are required to register for a Move-In Arrival Time via HomeUnderTheDome.nd.edu* once Residential Life communicates the opening of signing up for a Move-In Arrival Time in July. Assigned times manage campus traffic flow to residence hall unloading zones through staging lots. Students must secure a 30-minute arrival slot on HomeUnderTheDome.nd.edu* for unloading zone access.

During staging lot operation, only students with registered arrival times may access hall unloading zones. Arrival times are staggered to facilitate hall staff welcomes. Students should note registration numbers for time slots, as higher numbers may increase staging lot wait times. Staging lot personnel will direct students to halls as space is available. After their assigned time, students may park in perimeter lots and walk to campus.

If you are a returning student who utilized an off campus storage unit over the summer, we suggest that you plan accordingly to return your items to the hall during and after your initial Move-In Arrival Time.

*Access to HomeUnderTheDome.nd.edu requires student ND credentials.
